So often kids absolutely amaze me, and Macie is one of those who blows me away! She is not only a fantastic artist, but she has a business based on that art. She creates the most beautiful miniatures out of clay and shrinky dink paper – things like Spongebob, the hats from the movie Elf, food items, and anything you can imagine. For really great prices – probably too little for the work she puts into them! As soon as my girls saw them we had to buy some, and then some more, and even more 😉 She sells them in an Instagram Boutique, from her home, and at farmer’s markets.

Recently, I had the chance to interview Macie and here it is:

How long have you been working on this little business?
About 2 ½ years

Where do you get your ideas?
Friends’ recommendations, pinterest, my head 🙂

What’s your most popular earring?
tacos! 🌮

What’s your favorite thing you’ve made/created?
cow shrinky dink earrings

What is your favorite medium to work with?
shrinky dink paper, polymer clay

What gave you the idea for your earrings?
I wanted to do a lemonade stand one summer with earrings, treats, and jewelry 🙂 that’s how it started.

What’s been your favorite part of the business?
Having a creative outlet that is cute and useful!

What has been the hardest part of your business?
Going to farmers markets

What advice do you give for other kids who start a business?
Don’t give up. It gets really hard and stressful sometimes, but it is soo worth it! Having a small business can help you learn more about problem solving, selling, marketing, and advertising! It’s good practice for being responsible and efficient in future jobs!

What is your goal for your business this year? What would you like to accomplish?
This year I want to set up an online shop to be able to sell my products there.
